For me, it was a sad world of not hugging your friends or visiting places. Kettle Valley Railway

Biking from Penticton to Kelowna

90 km / 7 hrs and not much time for anything else

On Day 2 of our Okanagan weekend I set my eyes on the section of Kettle Valley Railway from Penticton to Kelowna, a trail winding through the hillside wineries and up the Naramata bench. My final destination – Kelowna, 90km away where my husband was to pick me up late in the afternoon.

Lillooet Icefield

This was a difficult trip, even though we have done several long (10 days or more) ski traverses on the coast before. It will test your experience with camping and survival in winter conditions, navigation over gnarly terrain, and your degree of confidence traveling through unfamiliar and potentially dangerous landscapes.

Juneau Icefield

I’d like to tell you about my most favourite trip of all times. Well, there are a few that concurrently hold the spot #1 but this one comes to mind when I think of a wholesome, expedition-style trip that combines a relative ease of travel with just the right amount of challenge, in a landscape beautiful beyond normal, topped off with having it done with some of the favouritest people in my universe. February – April is prime time for ski expeditions. The days are longer and glaciers are filling in nicely. A perfect time for some overnight trips into far reaches of the southwest B.C. In this post I will offer some ideas for popular traverses within 100 km from Vancouver. They are sorted in the order of logistical & technical involvement, with those accessible most coming up first.
